A Secruity Specialist, GS-0080-09, Implements policies and procedures required to manage the MN Army National Guard Personnel Security Program. Functions as a technical specialist on all personnel security matters as well as other areas of classified security and classification guidance. Duties require incumbent to maintain currency on a variety of different security program interrelationships, requirements, regulations and guidance in order to apply this knowledge to protect national security information and materials from espionage, sabotage, and destruction. Researches, interprets, analyzes and applies Presidential Executive Orders, Director Central Intelligence Directives (DCIDs), Defense Intelligence Agency Manuals, DoD Manuals, military component manuals and instructions, and local Operating Instructions. Implements the SCI security clearance program for all assigned personnel, ensuring all required clearances are up-to-date and completed. Terminates or transfers security clearances for geographic area. Incumbent meets with key customers to assess customer satisfaction and resolve problems that arise. Ensures that subordinates provide customer guidance and training. Provides oversight of unit and security self-inspections and presents detailed and comprehensive reports with corrective action taken to the unit intelligence commander/SIO. Follows-up to ensure complete and quality resolution of discrepancies. Assesses and revises policies and procedures to improve their quality, timeliness, and efficiency. Performs other duties as assigned.

Must physically qualify in compliance with Department of Defense, along with the Department of the Army- or- Department of the Air Force medical standards, as required/specified by the applicable Army or Air Force military skill medical requirements.

Area 3: All Minnesota National Guard members currently assigned to the MNANG or to the MNARNG applying for a position within the component in which they are currently assigned. i.e. temporary technician or Traditional Guardsman.
Area 4: Currently assigned service members in other branches of the military outside of the Minnesota National Guard, to include those assigned to Active Duty, Reserve or other state's National Guard.
Area 5: All individuals able to and willing to become members of the Minnesota National Guard including prior service not currently assigned to a military component and non-prior service US civilians.

Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of appropriate education, experience, training, self-development activities, and special awards. Candidates are considered on the basis of available information on their current application and supporting information that has been provided to this office. National Guard military (Part-time) service is considered as full-time experience when evaluated against the qualification requirements for a technician position.
