THIS POSITION IS ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT MEMBERS OF THE IDAHO AIR NATIONAL GUARD
This position is located in the Air Component of a National Guard Wing Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ/Air).. The purpose of the position is to function as the executive officer and advisor to the Air Commander in the management and administration of services essential to the operation of the JFHQ Air Component, providing direction and leadership, with authority of the Air Commander, towards the planning, implementing and achievement of the organization's strategic plan.
Accomplishes staff work, often without precedence, that relieves the Air Commander and Director of Staff of all but the most pressing and necessary decision and action policies in relation to base the organization's activities. Advises the Air Commander, recommending improvements in the formulation and application of base policies and procedures. Supports the Air Component Commander and Director of Staff in directing the management of a myriad of atypical and unrelated problems. Establishes channels of communication within the headquarters, keeping personnel informed and facilitating feedback. Resolves day-to-day administrative and management problems related to the operation of the base organization.
Plans, directs, and/or participates in special Air National Guard and Wing/Enclave initiated studies and projects relating to organization, resource utilization, logistical support, and readiness programs. Reviews processes and procedures to determine the overall effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of activities and programs. Directs actions required to implement procedures which will result in savings without compromising required standards of readiness, accuracy, and/or safety. Oversees the Information Management activities for the Air Commander and Director of Staff. Provides oversight for Wing/Enclave JFHQ/Air protocol functions. Implements, directs, and coordinates executive functions, services and activities. Represents the commander in interaction with other agencies at all levels. Responsible for unit programs and special projects. Provides continuity of base JFHQ/Air policy during the Director of Staff's absence based on known desires of the commander and extensive knowledge and in-depth awareness of day-to-day base organization activities.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Work includes positions in which the employees are responsible for providing or obtaining a variety of management services essential to the direction and operation of an organization. The paramount qualifications required are extensive knowledge and understanding of management principles, practices, methods and techniques, and skill in integrating management services with the general management of an organization. Experience, education or training in managing or directing, one or more programs, including appropriate supporting service organizations. Supervisory, managerial, professional or technical work experience and/or training which has provided knowledge of management principles, practices, methods and techniques. Experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience, education or training analyzing problems, identifying significant factors, gathering pertinent data and recognizing solutions. Experience preparing reports, plans, policies and various correspondence. Experience evaluating objectives and develop plans to facilitate the availability and effective utilization of various resources. Experience utilizing the organization, its mission and the organizational staff procedures. Experience using quantitative and qualitative techniques for analyzing and measuring the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of administrative and technical programs. Experience developing the mission and work processes of programs throughout the military organization and multi level agencies. Experience in analytical and investigative techniques.
