    This position is located in the Debt Management, Do Not Pay Business Center Staff, Agency Outreach Staff, in Washington, DC.

    Do Not Pay is responsible for the implementation of the Improper Payments Elimination and Recovery Improvement Act and related laws, which include the identification, prevention and reduction of improper payments and fraud.

    Responsibilities

    As a Financial Economist, Mathematician, Statistician, you will:

    -Forecast trends and outcomes, based on detailed understanding of improper payments businesses, operations, historical data, federal and private data sources, and other factors.

    -Evaluate potential outcomes and consequences of policy, operational, and economic changes.

    -Perform statistical and econometric analysis of historical and current data to assess the causes of trends and anomalies. Evaluate such findings for issues requiring further investigation.

    -Analyze and interpret data and makes recommendations on policy decisions affecting improper payments and fraud.

    -Assess the suitability, validity and reliability of private and public data sources for the prevention and identification of improper payments and fraud.
