WHAT DOES A HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT DO? As a Human Resources Assistant, you will provide clerical, administrative and limited technical support to personnel engaged in personnel management functions such as employee benefits, recruitment and placement, personnel/payroll processing, classification, labor relations, and employee development. In this position you will provide evaluation and analysis involving practices and principles of the assigned program specialty.

GRADE 08 LEVEL: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience that is in or related to this position and provided you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Examples of qualifying experience may have been gained in positions providing technical support to human resource management functions such as: •Utilizing personnel automated systems and procedures to determine appropriate steps to input unusual personnel actions and to resolve rejected documents. •Utilizing written and oral communication techniques in order to explain complex programs, and to clarify difficult problems. •Applying regulations and requirements relating to basic recruitment and placement and/or employee benefits and labor relations. •Resolving a wide range of complex personnel and employee account problems/issues. This list is not inclusive.
- The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-timework; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

CURRENT AND FORMER FEDERAL EMPLOYEES Documentation Relating to Your Federal Employment
Submit a copy of your SF-50, Notification of Personnel Action, which shows your current (or most recent) grade and competitive service status. (The position occupied block on the SF-50 should show a 1 and your tenure block should show a 1 or 2.) Indicate on your application the highest permanent grade you have held; if this grade is different from your current grade, submit a copy of an additional SF-50 showing this grade.
If you are currently on a Veterans Recruitment Appointment (VRA), submit a copy of an SF-50 showing proof of eligibility. Submit documentation to support any performance related awards received within the past 3 years (i.e., a copy of award SF-50 or documentation that includes company/institution name, date, monetary amount (if any) and reason for award.
CAREER TRANSITION ASSISTANCE PLAN(CTAP)or INTERAGENCY CAREER TRANSITION ASSISTANCE PLAN (ICTAP) DOCUMENTATION If you are a displaced or surplus Treasury employee, click CTAP/ICTAP for eligibility and a detailed list of required documents. IRS REASSIGNMENT PREFERENCE PROGRAM (RPP) You must meet the requirements in your RPP notice. Submit a copy of your RPP Notice along with a copy of your most recent annual performance appraisal. Your performance appraisal must have a fully successful or higher overall rating.
EDUCATION DOCUMENTATION
If you are qualifying for this position by substituting education or training for experience, submit a copy of your transcripts or equivalent. If the position has specific education requirements and you are currently (or have previously been) in the Federal job series to be filled, there is no need to submit a transcript or equivalent at this time; instead you may substitute an SF-50 showing you held the job series. A college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
