    EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

    In this Supervisory Security Specialist position, you will serve as a first-line supervisor, senior Security advisor and an expert in security programs, policies and practices in the Office of the Chief Security Officer. Typical assignments include: 

    • Exercising technical and administrative supervision over a team of Security Specialists responsible for the operation and management of complex security programs.
    • Overseeing the development of policy and guidance for planning and implementing program requirements and ensuring proper alignment with the Agency strategic plan.
    • Personally participating in or overseeing staff preparation and participation in briefings and meetings to provide security advice and assistance.
    • Providing input on budget requirements based on anticipated workload and production capability.

    25% or less - Non-emergency travel up to 25% may be required.
