    • Salary:
    • GS-11: $67,816 (Step 01) to $88,166 (Step 10)
    • GS-12: $81,283 (Step 01) to $105,672 (Step 10); NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01.

    As a Biologist at the Western Fisheries Research Center, you will be a member of the USGS Immunomodulation Science Team (https://www.usgs.gov/mission-areas/environmental-health/science/immunomodulation-science-team?qt-science_center_objects=0#qt-science_center_objects). Some of your specific duties will include:

    • Plans and conducts studies using bioinformatic and/or computational biology based strategies to address the effect(s) of environmental stressors and infection on global host gene expression, epigenome and/or microbiome in fish and wildlife at a national scale.
    • Develops and carries out data collection protocols that examine biological and physiological responses and analyses sampling using molecular-based techniques.
    • Writes comprehensive reports on study findings and recommendations for publication as peer-reviewed scientific reports and other documents to disseminate research results.
    • Presents scientific information to the public through diverse media including oral presentations at scientific meetings.
    • Operates a government vehicle as an incidental driver.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Occasional travel away from home may be required 1-5 nights per month.
