    Research scientists have open-ended promotion potential. Research accomplishments and their impact on the duties and responsibilities of positions are evaluated periodically. The grade level is limited only by the individual's demonstrated ability to perform research of recognized importance to science and technology. *Final grade level may be determined by a peer review panel.

    • The incumbent will conduct independent as well as lead team-based nutritional/health values research and is expected to develop productive collaborations with other scientists from universities, industry, and government.
    • Provides oversight of one or more Center research cores.
    • As Research Leader provides pre-submission review of reports (abstracts, original manuscripts, book reviews/chapters, and letters to the editor) produced by scientists assigned to the research management unit.
    • Submits at least two manuscripts per year for publication of experimental results in peer-reviewed journals, and presents information at scientific meetings and at other research institutions.
    • Manage a research program, including personnel, equipment and fiscal resources following agency's mission and scientific procedures, requirements and protocols.
    • Supervise employees, to include setting performance standards, monitoring performance and guiding subordinates.

    25% or less - Occasional travel-you will be expected to travel for this position.
