    EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

    In this position, you will serve as the National Preparedness Division Director and Federal Preparedness Coordinator. Supervising the regional staff that performs work involved in managing and coordinating with other entities on preparedness planning. Typical assignments include:

    • Directing and overseeing the conduct of sophisticated assessment and analyses of the most complex issues related to regional preparedness program operations and the ability to build and sustain national preparedness goals.
    • Providing senior level technical and administrative supervision at the regional level staff that deals with the determination of short and long range planning and preparedness resources through ongoing inter-agency communication.
    • Representing the region as the agency spokesperson at professional level conferences, meetings, committees and working groups of elected and policy officials that propose, defend and/or criticize preparedness program criteria, to promote and maintain a pro-active posture.
    • Managing nationwide projects of the highest visibility and impact for FEMA
