This incumbant functions as the Associate Chief of Staff for Research for the New Mexico VA. The ACOS/R provides the scientific and administrative leadership for the Research and Development Service and manages for the overall operation and supervision of its staff whose function is the operation and management of both the R&D Service and the New Mexico VA Research Program.
The Associate Chief of Staff for Research (ACOS/R), is responsible for the overall strategic leadership, planning, direction and coordination of all activity within the New Mexico Research Program, which includes the Research & Development Service, all research physicians and scientists, research coordinators/assistants, academic affiliate research collaborators, and the non-profit Biomedical Research of New Mexico (BRINM).
The intensity, activity, and broad program mission generates numerous, complex problems which require the ACOS/R to have outstanding skills and ability in communicating, planning, organizing, directing, and controlling all programs which effect a positive impact on the interdisciplinary service, the interdisciplinary professional and the health care delivery system.
The ACOS/R additionally formulates long and short-range goals and objectives, plans, and programs for the service. In formulating such plans, coordinates with the Chief of Staff and facility management to integrate the Medical Center and VISN objectives.
Collaborates with executive leadership, managerial and clinical leaders in formulating local Medical Center Policy, resource planning for human resources, equipment and space.
Provides continuous assessment and improvement of quality of care, treatment and service.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
