    Assists the area/zone or similar engineer and is responsible for providing basic technical guidance and in-the overall planning, design, installation, and maintenance of the engineering phases of soil and water conservation practices.

    • Supervises the planning, design and construction of engineering practices such as water management, animal waste management, erosion control, flood control, wetland creation or restoration,
    • Oversees the type, scope, and intensity of field investigations and surveys needed for the practice implementation. Directs the collections and processing of field data and ensures adequacy of the collected data.
    • Prepares designs, preliminary and final drawings and specifications on complex engineering practices. Designs are performed accounting for ease of construction, availability of materials, and adapted to the specific site conditions.
    • Directs and performs site investigations, feasibility studies, and field construction checks for conservation practice installations.
    • Assists Leadership in determining the training needs of the field personnel engaged in engineering work. Makes recommendations to Leadership on training needed and assists in the organization of the statewide engineering training program.
