The US Army Audit Agency serves America's Army by providing objective and independent audit services. These services help the Army make informed decisions, resolve issues, use resources effectively, and satisfy statutory and fiduciary responsibilities.
- Develop and review audit proposals and approve requests for consulting services, and audit or consulting coverage by the Department of Army, Navy, Air Force, Department of Defense, General Accounting Office, and Army Criminal Investigation Command.
- Issue notification letters and identify resources, new/advanced techniques, and knowledge and skills needed to accomplish objectives.
- Visit audit sites and provide technical leadership to enable timely completion of milestones and to minimize overall costs in providing service.
- Evaluate statistical and other data pertaining to assigned audits or consulting engagements and identifies areas requiring immediate attention, e.g., a trend of increasing number of elapsed days.
- Determine the most appropriate methodology for reporting consulting services and multi-level findings for multi-location and single location audits, e.g., combined or separate reporting.
- Prepare or approve job appraisals for assigned audit/consulting staff.
- Counsel subordinates on conduct and job performance issues.
- Resolve or notify Agency management of employee complaints and grievances.
- Provide geographical coverage in support of U. S. Army Europe along with supporting the expeditionary workload in Eastern Europe and Southwest Asia when the need arises.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education AND experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education required: Bachelor's degree in accounting; or a degree in a related field such as Business Administration, Finance, or Public Administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard. Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor.")
Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: 1) Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law; 2) A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or 3) Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.
In addition to the above minimum requirements, applicants must meet the following:
Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: experience developing and executing an audit program, reporting audit finding, and directing audit personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).

Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only.
- Pay retention may be offered to successful applicants for positions at overseas locations. For this provision to apply to employees already overseas, the selected individual would have to require a permanent change of station move and would have to be selected as a result of a recruitment effort that had been extended outside of the overseas command involved.
