    Responsibilities

    As a Hydrologic Technician within the California Water Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:

    Surface Water:  Makes stream discharge measurements at all stages, at times under extremely adverse conditions.  Computes and checks the full range of surface-water records from field data.

    Water Quality:  Performs full range of field measurements such as water temperature, specific conductance, pH, dissolved oxygen and alkalinity.  

    Instrumentation:  Configures, installs, maintains and services a wide variety of sensing, recording and communication equipment and instrumentation.

    Infrastructure:  Participates in the installation and maintenance of gages and supporting structures.

    Operates a government motor vehicle as an incidental driver.
     
    Working Conditions:   The work regularly requires considerable dexterity, agility, and strenuous physical exertion such as that needed to: climb, swim, or work in areas where footing is treacherous such as on slippery river banks, in steep or rocky terrain, around heavy machinery, and in fast-moving water; lift heavy objects weighing over 50 pounds or more. Work regularly requires employee to be outside in hot/cold environments for long periods of time.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Overnight travel of 4 nights per month may be required.
