    The USCG is announcing a challenging Senior Executive Service career opportunity to serve as the Deputy Assistant Commandant for Acquisition/Director of Acquisition Services. The position is responsible for oversight of the modernization and recapitalization of surface; air; command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance; and logistics assets in support of the Service’s multiple maritime missions.  This includes executive level program management, resource oversight, and strategic planning for all of the Coast Guard's domestic and international acquisitions, the Research and Development Center/Program, contracting and procurement, and the acquisition support staff.

    In addition to overseeing tactical execution of current acquisition programs, the Deputy:

    • Conducts, directs, oversees, and participates in long-range strategic planning for the entire Acquisition Directorate.
    • Serves as the principal advisor to the Assistant Commandant for Acquisition and to senior Coast Guard leadership on long-range strategic issues relating to acquisition including project cost, schedule, performance, and risk; budget planning; multi-year resource planning, management analysis, and development of the acquisition workforce.
    • Provides guidance on issues affecting the ability of the Acquisition Directorate to effectively and efficiently provide the assets and systems that allow USCG operational personnel to perform their critical missions.
    • Manages over 600 military and civilian personnel.
    • Leads and manages the Acquisition Career Development and Certification Program.
