The SSA Internship Program (Program) provides individuals who are currently enrolled in or accepted for enrollment and seeking a degree, diploma, or certificate in qualifying educational institutions/programs with developmental experiences in the Federal Government. The Program is intended to provide clear paths and potential careers in the civil service.
Program participant(s) are placed on excepted service appointments for an initial period not to exceed September 30, 2019. Appointments may be extended.
NOTE: Position is being announced as a temporary appointment not to exceed September 30, 2019 but may be terminated earlier due to budgetary restrictions.This program provides substantive, developmental work assignments that prepare incumbents for placement in a General Office target position. The intern will be given orientation to SSA and basic orientation in the functions and operations of the organization to which the intern is assigned.
Note: A work schedule will be established that does not interfere with the academic schedule. This is a developmental program while you complete your education. After successful completion of the Program, you may be eligible for a noncompetitive conversion to a term (not to exceed 1-4 years) or permanent appointment.
