    Salary: $80,806 (Step 01) to $105,052 (Step 10); NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01

    As an Ecologist within the New York Water Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:

    -Applies knowledge of the principles and practices of ecology, computer and mathematical science, web mapping applications, and GIS to provide programmatic oversight and direction to the New York Water Science Center, Northeast Region, and Water Mission Area.

    -Provides advise and consultation to scientists in the interpretation and use of statistics applied to ecological or environmental studies.

    -Conducts studies in several areas simultaneously and/or provide technical oversight to senior and junior scientists.

    -Applies quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) principles and procedures to assess the quality of environmental monitoring data.

    -Operates a government vehicle as an incidental driver.

    Physical Demands & Work Environment:

    Fieldwork may be required occasionally.  Conditions may include an array of climatic, topographic, and vegetation conditions with typical risks from hazardous plants, insects, pollen, dust, etc. 

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Overnight travel of up to 5 nights per month may be required.
