    In this position, you will lead employees performing two-grade interval professional scientific research duties in support of the missions and functions. Incumbent will provide oversight of laboratorians in this laboratory in support of research and development on advanced analytical chemistry approaches to measuring human exposure to a variety of high-threat chemical terrorism agents, naturally occurring and intentional toxins and drugs of abuse.

    As an Lead Research Chemist you will:

    • Act as a Principal Investigator conducting complex and innovative research, developing new strategies and methods, and planning and conducting complex laboratory investigations and translational activities to better assess chemicals and their impacts on humans
    • Serve as an expert to both internal and external partners for those analyses that the individual or team develops, modifies, or performs
    • Serve as an expert consultant in the area of biomonitoring of select chemicals to federal scientists and others within the Division and other components of CDC
    • Serve as a Team Leader
