    In this Supervisory Physical Scientist (Deputy Executive Director) position with CBP's Office of Laboratories & Scientific Services, you will be assisting the Executive Director (XD) on a variety of policy issues of interest to DHS and CBP officials, as well as other Federal, state, local agencies.

    This position starts at a salary of $137,849.00 (GS-15, Step 1) to $166,500.00 (GS-15, Step 10) with promotion potential to $166,500 (GS-15 Step 10).

    In this position, you will serve as a senior manager responsible for leading and coordinating the key business and administrative support services as a direct support to the Executive Director (XD). Typical work assignments include:

    - Participates fully with the Executive Director (XD) and other CBP officials in the review and appraisal of major policy issues amid questions with major implications for CBP's stance on variety of issues, including those with potential impact on one or more aspects of the national economy.
    - Initiates, organizes, and manages the development of a comprehensive program to make chemical and physical scientific tests and investigations on merchandise entering or leaving the U.S. and on seizure evidence referred to the laboratory.
    - Coordinates scientific activities with other governmental agencies and laboratory systems, furnishing scientific and technical advisory services as required.
    - Supervises/directs subordinate division chiefs in the establishment of goals and objectives, work planning and organization, work assignments, and personnel management responsibilities.

    25% or less - You may be expected to travel for this position up to 25% of the time.
