    The Risk Manager demonstrates the ability to function independently, frequently interacting with members of the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital Leadership including Service Chiefs, supervisors, managers and employees in staff positions. The Risk Manager promotes a climate of collaboration, cooperation, and understanding and serves as an advisor/consultant to all services on policy and issues related to risk management throughout the facility.

    RN (Risk Manager) duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

    • The Risk Manager determines compliance with Peer Review Directive and other Risk Management policies, directives/handbooks, such as National Practitioner Data Bank and Adverse Event Disclosure, and works with Services to ensure timelines are met.
    • Provides consultation to Services regarding peer review, tort claims, national practitioner data bank, disclosure of adverse events, and other risk management/patient safety activities.
    • Overview of Administrative Investigation Boards, Peer Review, Tort Claims and RCAs.
    • Prepares accurate reports to the Clinical Executive Board and Senior Leaders as appropriate.
    • Conducts clinical summaries, including occurrence screens and mortality reviews, and identifies potential quality of care issues.
    • Effectively designs or redesigns processes in collaboration with Service Chiefs and program directors.
    • Effectively identifies and communicates performance improvement/Risk Management activities.
    • Demonstrates ability to plan for and implement survey preparation activities.
    • Other Duties as Assigned
    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm.
