    This position is located in the Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA) Headquarters Office in Arlington, VA. OEA responds to emergent requirements directed by SECDEF, assists states and communities to plan and carry out Defense economic adjustment strategies in response to impacts from Defense program activity (BRAC, budget reductions, compatible use, etc.), and directs a program of technical and financial assistance across Federal Agencies.

    Your typical work assignments may include the following:

    • Plans, organizes, leads, and represents OEA and the DoD at conferences, meetings, working groups, field visits, etc. at the local, state and Federal levels, including dealing with the media, members of Congress and their staff, governors, local elected leaders, labor unions and other interested citizen groups
    • Communicates with senior officials at the program and project level via complex presentations, written products/reports, project plans, and other written and oral products.
    • Evaluates local capacities to plan and carry out adjustment strategies, identifying and advocating for a program of assistance to ensure the local community may speak with voice in encountering local economic impacts, develop consensus strategies and sustainable plans, and carry-out strategies.
    • Identifies and secures resources to implement adjustment strategies or innovative projects.
