    Summary

    A successful candidate in this position will develop and interpret Government-wide and Department-wide policies, procedures and guidance; perform document reviews; and conduct training.  The Office of the Associate Under Secretary for Environment, Health, Safety, and Security (AU) provides corporate leadership and strategic approaches for protecting DOE’s workers, the public, the environment, and national security assets.

    Responsibilities

    As a General Engineer/Physical Scientist, you will:

    • Conduct classification and declassification reviews of documents, across all DOE technical subject areas, excluding Naval Reactors, and reviews for Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information (UCNI), in accordance with the requirements of the Atomic Energy Act (AEA); applicable Federal statutes, Executive orders, and regulations; and DOE policy and regulations.
    • Oversee the activities of a support contractor staff that performs document reviews and develops reports.
    • Provide input to the Director, Office of Document Reviews in the evaluation of contractor performance.
    • Serve as the senior advisor to the DOE Office of General Counsel, DOE Office of Intelligence, and the Department of Justice on classification/declassification matters concerning security investigations, criminal prosecutions, and civil litigations, including Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) litigations.
    • Serve as the senior advisor and recognized expert in DOE’s classification and declassification document review process including serving as the Department’s representative on senior technical working groups and interdisciplinary task forces.
    • Lead technical forums, interagency meetings, workshops, national conferences, and meetings.

    Occasional travel - Overnight travel is minimal. May require some local travel.
