    This position is located in the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) aquaculture program, with one position each in the Alaska Region (Juneau or Anchorage, Alaska), the Greater Atlantic Region (Gloucester, Massachusetts), and the West Coast Region (Seattle or Lacey, Washington).

    As a Marine Resources Management Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

    • Coordinate and provide management/scientific advice in the regional office review of aquaculture permit requests.
    • Identify and implement projects that achieve near-term production, job, and/or conservation objectives.
    • Promote the development of aquaculture through improved partnerships, strategic planning, regulatory streamlining, technology transfer, best practices, and identification of funding opportunities.
    • Attend and/or facilitate meetings with private, federal, state, local, and tribal entities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of aquaculture permitting processes and public understanding of aquaculture issues.

    NOTE: Duties are at the full performance level of the ZP-4 or GS-13. The ZP-3 or GS-11 is developmental leading up to such performance.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Up to 15% of domestic and foreign travel may be required for this position.
