    The incumbent functions as a Painter who employs skilled techniques in the preparation of a variety of surfaces and in the application of coating materials to obtain a desired result.

    The incumbent:

    • Performs work on both interior and exterior surfaces such as offices, corridors, stairwells, floors, hallways, cabinets, bookcases, walls, windows, gutters, and cornices.
    • Prepares surfaces for new coating materials (paint, shellac, varnish, enamel, lacquer, stain, bonding agents, pre-coating material, epoxy resin) and removes the old finish by sanding, scraping, brushing, or using steel wool, paint remover or burning. 
    • Prepares coating materials by tinting, toning, matching, blending and mixing various additives to achieve desired colors, tones, and shades and applies them by brushes, rollers, and spray guns.
