    Responsibilities

    Sleep Medicine is one of the busiest medical specialties at the Puget Sound VA Medical Center, providing lifelong treatment that requires continual follow up with patients. It serves over 12,000 patients on positive air pressure devices with a staff of providers, respiratory therapists, sleep technicians, and medical support assistants. The sleep medicine nurse coordinator will ensure seamless coordination of care within the VA and between the VA and community care providers. This coordinator will serve as the clinical point of contact for the department. The nurse coordinator will organize efficient and effective care for the department.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • telephone triage for sleep medicine patients including outside consultations
    • develop and coordinate seamless transitioning of patients through the inpatient and outpatient care processes
    The RN will cross-train and cover other subspecialties as needed.
