    Summary

    The Department of Agriculture's Office of the General Counsel (OGC) provides legal services to all the agencies within the United States Department of Agriculture. The position is located in the Washington D.C. office. The incumbent is responsible for work related to records and file management, processing Privacy Act (PA) requests, and maintenance of OGC Privacy Act systems of records.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for day-to-day administration of OGC's records in accordance with applicable NARA records schedules and Departmental requirements.
    • Communicates records requirements to agency division and field offices.
    • Maintains schedule/documentation for regular dispatch of records to the Federal Records Center, retrieval of records and placements of freezes of destruction of records and conducts records inventories.
    • Provides guidance and advice to divisions and field offices on best practices for protection of PII.
    • Plans and conducts educational training sessions on Privacy Act matters.
    • Serves as the OGC Privacy Officer and represents the agency on issues related to Privacy Act and other information requirements.
