The purpose of this position is to oversee and coordinate training provided to N921 programs. • Serves as the Fitness Training Specialist responsible for ensuring training requirements for N921 throughout the CNIC enterprise are being met to include but not limited to the Navy Operational Fitness and Fueling System (NOFFS), AFLOAT Recreation Management, and Warehouse Management.
• Serves as the CNIC HQ N921 training subject matter expert, educational adviser, and resource consultant.
• Utilizes training expertise to role model, mentor, coordinate and provide training; observes to ensure successful implementation of training; assesses development of programs by direct observation; provides services that lead to obtaining and/or maintaining Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) accreditation; and provides services in support of the implementation of other MWR programs.
• Ensures the smooth and effective functioning of training events (both live and e-learnings) by managing and coordinating the logistics, systems and contractor relationships for training programs and sessions.
• Develops in-house training programs which include weightlifting techniques, exercise programming and exercise prescription.
• Develops training materials utilizing existing staff content experts and extensive collaboration with community partners that involves fitness and recreation knowledge.
• Demonstrates and coaches all aspects of a physical fitness program, including weightlifting techniques.
• Supports other MWR Program Managers and staff in the creation and maintenance of training programs, plans, matrices and training records.
• Provides facilitation services in order to customize learning events by blending existing N921 training curriculum to meet customer requests and to focus on recruiting, training and certifying installation and region employees regarding N921 programs.
• Demonstrates fitness and recreation components and testing during in-person education courses which may include weightlifting (including Olympic lifting) and fitness assessments.
• Coordinates with N921 Program Managers to ensure training is scheduled appropriately and that appropriate management coverage is available at each facility.
• Provides site visits to installations to observe training conducted within by region or installation employees.
• Provides information, assistance and guidance to employees and providers who are seeking college-level classes to meet their professional goals as they relate to the mission of N921.
• Develops a working relationship with local colleges, universities and professional organizations and advises employees/providers about continuing avenues of professional development.
• Provides services to region and installation programs in support of obtaining and/or maintaining MWR accreditation.
• Ensures a resourceful, effective, efficient and viable operation to include the development and consistent implementation of customer-driven and streamlined processes and procedures to meet daily work requirements.
• Monitors the training and curriculum to ensure compliance with higher headquarters, local policies, and regulatory criteria.
• Ensures compliance with all applicable professional and administrative guidelines and regulations, to include Department of Defense (DoD) and Navy standards for N921.

• Knowledge of a wide range of principles, concepts and techniques that govern physical fitness programs to include knowledge of exercise science, strength conditioning, nutrition, weight loss/control, cardiovascular endurance, exercise requirements and projected results.
• Knowledge of biomechanics, fitness testing and exercise prescription supplemented with a knowledge of proper procedures in the use of strength training equipment, nutrition, exercise, physical fitness programming and testing equipment.
• Knowledge of military fitness requirements.
• Knowledge of learning management systems and web delivery.
• Knowledge, skill and ability to negotiate, resolve conflict, manage and prioritize time and work, facilitate team behavior, plan and conduct meetings, as well as contribute to team goals and objectives, and apply positive and effective customer service behavior with all internal and external customers.
• Knowledge of training facilitation, adult learning, learning transfer, persuasive communication and effective presentations.
• Knowledge of DoD, Department of the Navy (DON) and CNIC policies and procedures governing the fitness and recreational activity certifications.
• Skill in planning and executing a comprehensive fitness training program that includes a variety of fitness training programs and conducting training workshops.
• Skill in critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational and time management skills.
• Skill in project management, including planning, implementation, tracking and reporting progress on project goals and activities, as well as managing risks and adapting plans to address unexpected events.

• Ability to analyze and prepare clear, concise, and technically sound reports related to work within the Branch.

An undergraduate degree or higher in education or exercise science; sports medicine; kinesiology; athletic training; or biomechanics, OR at least 2 years’ experience overseeing and coordinating fitness education training programs.
