The incumbent will lead a team of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Security staff to identify security concerns associated with the integration of UAS into the National Airspace System (NAS). Directs the work of subordinate employees and/or mangers for more than one organizational unit/project/program within a major subdivision. Applies advanced knowledge of the technical aspects of the work directed, advanced knowledge of budget, human resources, and other administrative policies and procedures, and an advanced understanding of the objectives of the major subdivision.
Performs critical tasks related to the deployment and use of Counter UAS (CUAS) by partner agencies ensuring the protection of critical infrastructure while maintaining NAS safety.
Assists with the development of national level policies, rules, and regulations intended to address unique UAS implementation and security considerations.
Manages institutional, regulatory, and legislative impediments to UAS/CUAS implementation; and supports Congressional technical assistance developing regulatory guidance related to UAS and C-UAS implementation.
Supports FAA rulemaking activities as related to UAS security concerns.
Works across FAA LOBs to leverage expertise to gather UAS security concerns as identified during UAS integration activities.
Interacts with federal, state, local, territorial, tribal, and private sector stakeholders to gather security concerns/requirements for securing the NAS.
Teams with interagency partners during the technology review, and deployment of Counter-UAS (CUAS) systems domestically to ensure there are no impacts to the NAS based on their operational use.
Represents the FAA at domestic and international meetings to support the development of international standards, practice s and procedures associated with UAS Security activities.
Develops and implements outreach/educational initiatives as well as media responses in support of secure UAS integration into the NAS.
Oversees intelligence collection of threats from UAS to critical infrastructure, and cybersecurity threats to UAS implementation. Performs other duties as assigned.

Regularly called upon to identify problem areas, and to develop and recommend new policies and procedures for resolution.
