    Organization Location: Department of Health & Health Human Services (HHS), Indian Health Service (IHS), Southwest Region, Phoenix Area, Quality Services Division- Health Information Management Dept., Fort Yuma Service Unit, located in Winterhaven, California. Position is supervised under the Medical Records Administration Specialist.

    Responsibilities

    Major Duties:

    • Serves as Medical Information/Correspondence Technician assisting patients, health care providers, insurance companies, attorneys, and other health care facilities to provide medical records and pertinent patient data as requested.
    • Processes requests for release of medical information utilizing the Resource Patient Management System (RPMS) and the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to research and collect patient data in accordance with the Federal Rules and Regulations.
    • Creates the Patient's identification vetting in accordance with Indian Health Services PHR guidelines and facility policy/procedure. Maintains and ensures the confidentiality and security of the patient's personal health information.
    • Perform customer services; greet customers, answer routine inquiries and telephone calls.
