The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As an Accountant, you will:
- Develop and maintain a complex of automated subsystems to produce accounting and financial information; define systems specifications.
- Routinely devise new methods and criteria to identify trends and patterns, modify systems to accept new kinds of data, and prepare a variety of regular and special purpose reports.
- Coordinate the resolution of accounting system issues arising from factors such as changes in legislation, regulation, and accounting standards; test systems changes to ensure they do not compromise regular reporting requirements; evaluate proposals to integrate the accounting system with interfacing administrative support and functional program information systems.
- Analyze operations, financial systems, periodic and special reports, and systems edits to develop information on trends, anomalies or problems and develop solutions; plan and execute changes to the content and nature of financial reports and application of computer technology to accounting functions.
Occasional travel - 1 to 5 days per month.
