    Education and length of practice will be considered by a Market Pay Review in determining the final compensable salary (Base Pay + Market Pay).

    This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Philadelphia VA Medical Center, Emergency Department, Philadelphia, PA. The nature of the work is emergency care: evaluation, stabilization and treatment of any patient/Veteran who presents with a request to be seen.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    -Act as the physician on duty in managing patient care, flow, transfers and administrative duties as needed which may include decision to place the department on divert status.
    -Uses their clinical expertise in determining need of stabilization, treatment, consultation, discharge, transfer or admission of patients who present for emergency care.
    -Supervises and trains medical students, residents and other learners
    -Involvement in quality management and patient safety
    -Attends monthly ED staff meetings

    Work Schedule: Days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays, 10 or 12 hour shifts depending on staffing coverage
