    The DOJ maintains a complex and sensitive cybersecurity program, responsible for safeguarding systems and users. This announcement seeks qualified candidates for the role of DOJ Deputy Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Deputy Director, Cybersecurity Services Staff (CSS).

    The Deputy CISO works with and reports to the DOJ Chief Information Security Office and Director, Cybersecurity Services Staff (CSS) in leading the Department's enterprise-wide cybersecurity program and providing security oversight to the Department's approximate $3 billion of annual information technology (IT) investments across over 40 Components.

    Reporting to the CISO, develops, evaluates, and implements policy for agency-wide programs. Provides high level technical advice and counsel to the CISO, the DOJ CIO and other Departmental components on matters relating to new or modified basic policies and procedures that affect or relate to current and existing information security and records management functions and programs.

    Leads Cybersecurity Services Staff (CSS) programs, integrates and coordinates the work of others as necessary, and interprets policies in terms of established objectives. Identifies areas requiring further or more concrete guidance and recommends corrective action.

    Provides first line communications, which include problem determination, problem resolution, and making recommendations to resolve IT security and records management issues and requirements. Keeps abreast of changing rules and regulations, as well as cyber threats and emerging technology.

    Assists the CISO in operating the Justice Security Operations Center (JSOC), a 24x7 operation that provides comprehensive cyber incident intrusion, detection, and response management services to protect the DOJ's computer networks. Provides guidance on remediation for cyber threats and penetrations into the Department's network as issues arise. Advises other IT experts throughout the agency and its components on a variety of situations and issues that involve applying or adapting new theories, concepts, standards, and/or practices resulting from the employee's leadership.

    In coordination with the CISO, plans, develops, and coordinates agency-level information security programs and strategies. Formulates agency-level IT initiatives in response to critical IT security issues. Plans and coordinates agency adherence to Federal IT security defense strategies.
