    This position is located in the Domiciliary Service in the office of the Service Chief. As the only Domiciliary in VISN 21, this is a complex service with both outpatient and residential programs, and clinical and administrative activity throughout Northern California. The role of the incumbent is to assist the Chief, Assistant Chief, and Administrative Officer to fulfill the outreach, clinical, research, and teaching missions of this complex service, with the principle objective of optimal utilization of staff, space, equipment, and operating funds.The incumbent of this position will serve as a Incumbent oversees thc environment of care in building 347. In this role, he/she collaborates with staff and veterans from HVRP and First Step, as well as fire and safety, infection control, QM, and other services throughout VAPAHCS. He/she participates in bi-yearly Environmental Rounds inspections, as well as all other inspections by the hospital or other accrediting bodies.

    The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

    • He/she is responsible for preparing the building for inspections by notifying staff and veterans in thc residential prograrns and identifying areas of improvement. After inspections, he./she prepares and initiates action plans in response to actionable items and initiates work orders for broken equipment or other problems, and tracks progress and reports same to the facility safety officer upon request.
    • He/she ensures that fire and safety codes are followed, including holding regular fire and earthquake drills, ensuring that all logs are current and complete, including fire extinguishers, refrigerators, etc.
    • He/she inspects kitchen and other food preparation areas for compliance with safety and nutrition policies, and follows up with staff and residents regarding any areas of noncompliance.
