    Summary

    You will serve as the Director for Marine Engineering in the Naval Systems Engineering Directorate at Naval Sea Systems Command, providing leadership and guidance of technical authority execution, stewardship, business operation and workforce talent management (e.g. plan, recruitment, development, performance management, sustainment, succession, retention, recognition and compensation) for the marine engineering competency.

    Responsibilities

    • You will be responsible for developing national strategic solutions supporting all Navy and federal surface ships, aircraft carriers, submarines, submersibles, and vehicle design, integration and systems engineering.
    • You will initiate, manage, and supervise interdisciplinary systems engineering and research and development programs involving basic and applied research in ships and ship systems including analysis and modeling.
    • You will be responsible for developing long and short-range planning and formulating broad program execution plan supporting the missions in ships and ship systems.
    • You will maintain an awareness of long-range Navy goals and requirements over a wide spectrum and the ability to translate these goals and requirements into research and development programs.
    • You will provide technical management direction and guidance to approximately 2,000 engineers, scientists, mathematicians, analysts, Senior Level, and other professionals, supporting the marine engineering technical domain.
    • You will develop, monitor, and control Technical Authority decision process for compliance, quality, and timeliness, and approval process of program implementation and the utilization of resources.
