    This position is located in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy (OUSDP). The USDP serves as the principal advisor and assistant to the Secretary of Defense for all matters concerned with the formulation of national security and defense policy. This position is assigned to the office of Special Operations/Low Intensity Conflict (SO/LIC), Secretariat for Special Operations (SSO), with specific focus on Special Operations-related Special Access Programs (SAP).

    Your typical work assignments may include the following:

    • Serves as a Special Access Program Analyst.
    • Plays a major role in the study, review, and adjustment of the strategies, concepts, programs, and budgets required to support OSD policy and program planning guidance.
    • Initiates independent analyses of highly complex policy, strategy, concept, and program issues, force possible alternatives, and implications of broad changes to the international environment and defense programs.
    • Provides expert advice at the Assistant Secretary of Defense and higher level on key strategy, planning, programming, budgeting and policy matters.
    • Prepares communications for SO/LIC leadership, both orally and in writing, to a wide variety of audiences on complex issues, both nationally and internationally, in and outside of government.
