The attorney filling this position will represent the United States, its agencies, and employees in civil litigation brought on behalf of or against the government. The case load may include collections, bankruptcy, tort actions under the Federal Tort Claims Act (premises liability, vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, etc.), Bivens based constitutional tort claims against federal employees, employment litigation, review of agency decisions under the Administrative Procedures Act, etc. The attorney filling this position may also have the opportunity to handle affirmative civil litigation including environmental enforcement actions, claims asserted under the False Claims Act, common law tort claims, actions to impose civil fines, and forfeiture claims.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $62,973 - 162,000 which includes 17.04% locality pay.
You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
Evaluation Method: Once your complete application package is received, it will be reviewed to ensure you meet all job requirements. An attorney interview panel will then review all qualified applicants and make recommendations for invitation to interview. You will be notified if selected for an interview.
