    This position is a career appointment in the Senior Executive Service (SES). Current federal civil services employees may apply. The civil service consists of all persons occupying an executive (including excepted service), judicial or legislative branch position. It does not include the uniformed services. Veteran's preference does not apply to the SES.

    Responsibilities

    As the Senior Deputy Assistant Director, Correctional Programs Division, the incumbent has direct oversight for the Correctional Programs Branch; Correctional Services Branch; Designation and Sentence Computation Center; Intelligence and Counter Terrorism Branch; and Sex Offender Certification and Review. The incumbent is involved in major policy decisions in the assigned functional areas which requires the incumbent keep informed and current on goals and objectives of the Attorney General, Director of the Bureau of Prisons, Assistant Director, Correctional Programs Division, and the status of accomplishments toward those goals and objectives. The incumbent provides advice and technical assistance to regional office staff, and through them to institution managers. Supervises and monitors the interpretation and adoption of applicable directives from the Department of Justice, The Federal Judicial system, Office of Personnel Management, General Accounting Office, and other government agencies for incorporation into service-wide programs. Provides top level advice to the Assistant Director and Director, Federal Bureau of Prisons concerning assigned program areas, both operational and under development, and the impact these programs have on the total management of the agency. Serves as liaison between the Correctional Programs Division and other divisions and offices as well as outside agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), United States Marshals Service (USMS), and United States Parole Commission (USPC).
