    Responsibilities

    The selectee is assigned to District five Response Division and serves remotely as detached duty located at the National Capital Region Coordination Center (NCRCC), Herndon, VA.

    Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.  Typical work assignments include:

    • Serving as a watch specialist in the NCRCC responsible for monitoring airspace with the DC Special Flight Rules Area (SRFA) and Flight Restricted Zone (FRZ) through surveillance of sophisticated radar systems.
    • Identifying track of interest (TOI) within the SFRA and determining if the TOI meets requirements to be operating in that location.
    • Overseeing a key communication responsibility that includes facilitating senior leadership calls, the pager alert system, and recall or other information as appropriated through the Communicator System.
    • Collecting, compiling, and disseminating mission generated detailed information including times, locations, and commands given by controlling agency to ensure threat and incident information is properly acquired, tracked and archived.

    ** Incumbent will work on rotating non-standard shifts, twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week, three hundred sixty five days a years.  The incumbent may be required to work substantial amounts of irregular overtime and may be required to remain on duty until properly relieved.**
