About the Position: This position is on a combined Mother-Baby/Labor and Delivery Unit. The unit provides a wide spectrum of obstetrical and labor care by obstetrical and gynecological specialty physicians, certified nurse midwives, nurse practitioners, obstetrical registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and administrative staff. The unit is committed to providing comprehensive family-centered care to all beneficiaries and their family members.

The incumbent can expect to perform a variety of RN duties, such as assessing and managing patients' physical condition and progress through the labor and delivery process. Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, or stooping, as well as the ability to lift, push, or pull objects greater than 50 pounds are required. Assesses fetal well-being by electronic fetal monitoring and other standard parameters. In addition, initiates parent/infant bonding by promoting a baby-friendly environment while assessing the needs of the patient and family. Administer intravenous fluids and medications. Responds to life-saving situations, using nursing standards and protocols for treatment as well as order diagnostic tests as needed. Act as patient advocate and collaborates with fellow members of the Maternal-Child care team. Provide education and support to patients and their family members. This position requires rotating shift work to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
