New Compliance Officers are trained by the Agency and are paired with experienced Compliance Officers who provide one-on-one guidance in investigatory techniques. Compliance Officers investigate whether products create substantial product hazards or violate Commission regulations and recommend and negotiate any appropriate corrective action. They also provide advice and guidance to industry on the requirements of various regulations, product standards, and Commission policies.
The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of or have practical experience with investigations, regulatory analysis, and negotiations. Technical expertise in engineering or chemistry is desirable, but not required.
As a Compliance Officer you will perform the following duties:

This is a Public Trust Position. Employment in this position requires a background investigation. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

GS-12: in-depth knowledge of manufacturing and marketing practices of consumer products, ability to understand scientific/technical principles relevant to the complex analysis of product defects/violations, knowledge of complex product safety principles and regulations relevant to possible violative products and ability to present complex issues orally and in writing.
