As the Department of Defense's lead laboratory for the development of medical countermeasures against chemical threat agents, the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD) is increasingly called upon to provide expert analytical and consultative services related to medical chemical defense research and to the medical management of chemical casualties.
This is a Direct Hire Authority recruitment for certain competitive positions, dated 1 Feb 2019.
As an Electronics Technician (Biomedical) you will evaluate, install, maintain, diagnose, repair, calibrate, and test medical electronic equipment and/or systems used at Army Medical Research laboratories. The paramount requirement is knowledge of electronic theory and medical procedures; specifically, knowledge of solid state, digital and integrated circuits (microprocessors) to isolate and resolve the complex relationship between electrical, electronic, computer operating systems, mechanical, physical and chemical components of the equipment and systems. You will be required to interpret and apply the principles of networking, hydraulics, and pneumatics; identify and recommend practical solutions when determining medical equipment malfunctions and/or manufacturing defects; performs maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, overhaul and surveillance testing of electronic components, medical equipment and systems and modifications; understand integrated systems designs to determine whether items are compatible with existing utilities and existing equipment/components and what modifications to utilities are necessary to ensure the equipment operates as intended. You will inspect, set up and install new medical equipment systems and inspect services performed on-site by commercial vendors for acceptable work performance. Provide assistance and in-service training, set-up, calibration, operation, and application of equipment; serves as a technical advisor to research staff regarding technical reviews of new equipment and overall life cycle management; and attends meetings, seminars and other training to assure consistency with state-of-the-art electronic medical equipment and varying levels of Test, Measurement, Diagnostic, and Equipment.
