The DIR of NHGRI plans, supports, and administers intramural, collaborative, and field research into human genetic diseases and develops therapeutic protocols in its laboratories and clinics. Members of MGMGB provide patient care, perform clinical and basic research, and engage in teaching and training of future investigators, including fellows enrolled in an American Board of Medical Genetics training program.
Duties of the position:Under the direction of Chief, this position will serve as a Staff Clinician for clinical research protocols. These protocols seek to explore new therapeutic options for overgrowth and other genetic disorders. This candidate will work in concert with one or more physicians, genetic counselors, nurses, or nurse practitioners. The incumbent will work with a variety of other members from the Clinical Center including but not limited to: physicians and scientists, therapists, social workers, pharmacists, dieticians, technicians, clinical research nurses, nurse specialists and a variety of support and ancillary staff. In addition, the incumbent is expected to work with members of the national and international community health care team in support of the patient research subjects.

Applicants must meet the degree requirements: Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
