The incumbent will serve as the Commission's Linux subject matter expert, providing best practice Linux builds and support with multiple Linux distributions, while providing support with networking and general IT infrastructure. The incumbent reports directly to the Information Technology Manager. Responsibilities include:
1. Building new Linux servers using industry best practice while always considering security first;
2. Maintaining the existing Linux installation base, ensuring that servers are properly patched and secured;
3. Monitoring servers for stability and security, taking both proactive and reactive measures to correct and prevent issues;
4. Diagnosing and repairing issues with the Linux servers in a timely fashion;
5. Looking for system and stability improvements across the servers;
6. Planning and coordinating the maintenance, upgrade, and support of servers;
7. Resolving problems such as defective hardware components or corrupted software and running tests to verify operability and functionality;
8. Recommending and installing firmware updates as required;
9. Tuning performance and ensuring high availability of infrastructure;
10. Supervising and mentoring junior IT staff member(s);
11. Assisting in the drafting of IT procedures and policies; and,
12. Other duties as assigned.
Applicants must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in information technology or a related field of study, and/or equivalent professional certifications and training.

- If appointed to a temporary position, management may have the discretion of converting the position to permanent depending upon funding and staffing allocation.
