    Summary

    The U.S. Census Bureau is seeking a highly motivated and capable executive to serve as the Associate Director for Research and Methodology.

    This position is a Senior Executive Service (SES) career-reserved position. Positions in the SES are not graded. SES pay is commensurate with qualifications. SES employees are eligible for bonuses and awards based on performance. Veteran's preference is not applicable to SES.

    Responsibilities

    • Serve as the principal technical advisor on statistical and survey method programs involving mathematical statistical techniques; survey design and methodology; data capture and integration; data science; and disclosure avoidance products.
    • Oversee work performed relating to broad methodological research programs; economic and allied social science topics; effective dissemination of high quality data; survey efficiency; and long range planning of statistical applications.
    • Provide executive and professional leadership as to the scope, quality, and content of bureau's statistical surveys and programs in partnership with internal and external stakeholders including government policy makers and the private sector.
    • Functional accountability for setting standards and maintaining efficiency in methods of collecting, processing, and interpreting data and coordinating operational research activities performed by all Divisions of the Census Bureau.
    • Develop and implement experimental research theories and methods aligned to meet current and future strategic objectives across directorates within the bureau.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Travel may be required to attend or present at meetings or conferences on topics relevant to the U.S. Census Bureau's mission.
