This position is located in the Office of Advancement, National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI), Smithsonian Institution (SI). The employee supports many aspects of the advancement office by assisting advancement staff and leadership with high levels of support functions associated with records management and accounting, constituent relations, communications, research, special projects and events.Learn more about this agency
- Maintains, enters and ensures that information in the database is verified and updated regularly, including tribal, donor, and prospective donor information. Establishes and maintains data base records of incoming and outstanding gifts/payments/pledges and relevant donor and prospective donor files, including tribal records.
- Supports NMAI tribal relations program. Plans, manages and executes events, visits and tours with constituents at NMAI-DC and the CRC and occasionally at NMAI-NY. Escorts guests as needed. Tribal delegations and community members from Indian communities across the United States, Canada and Latin America may include tribal leaders, artists, scholars, community elders, and business organizers etc. who are on official as well as informal visits to NMAI facilities.
- Responds to requests for data by compiling data for senior staff to review. Drafts profiles of constituents and compiles findings for consideration by advancement staff. Assists with research on constituents with the goal of matching the interests to upcoming exhibits, programs, and unit’s needs, based on specific guidance and direction.
- Compiles data for board, internal and external reports with responsibility for drafting text, recommending graphic design, and providing statistical tables. Tracks all correspondence and follows-up to ensure timely action and replies. Arranges meetings, contacts participants, and assembles correspondence, records, reports, and other materials.
