    DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY: This position is being filled through the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) Government-Wide Direct-Hire Authority for this occupation and is open to all U.S. Citizens. Veterans' Preference: Since the Direct-Hire Recruitment Authority is being used, traditional Veterans' Preference rules do not apply. Qualified veterans will, however, be given full consideration for this position.

    Responsibilities

    The first 50 candidates who applied will be considered for referral to the selecting official. Additional candidates will be referred based on hiring needs.

    This is a virtual position that must be placed in a VA facility in one of the locations and site will be determined after selection is made.

    This position is located in the Infrastructure Operations, Network Operations, LAN Division, Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) serving as an IT Specialist responsible for the full range of duties within their assigned service line and division. The incumbent serves as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist with duties associated with one or more IT specialty areas required to support one or more of the service lines which include Network Operations.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
    Compressed/Flexible Schedule: Not Available.
    Telework: May be available with supervisor approval.

    Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary, but may involve intermediate periods of walking, bending, stooping, lifting, carry, moving (up to 50 pounds) computer components and supplies, reaching, pulling, and working at a keyboard and monitor. Subject to call back outside tour of duty.
    Promotion Potential: This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-11. At the GS-09 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-11. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds. Promotion is not guaranteed and no promise of promotion is implied.

    Major Duties:
    · Provides front line or first responder support to IT related customer service calls.
    · Performs system maintenance duties such as upgrades, patches, backups/restores.
    · Manages the installation and integration of systems fixes, updates and enhancements.
    · Develops and manages customer service performance requirements.
    · Develops cost estimates for new or modified systems.
