    Summary

    This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Information and Technology (OI&T), Information and Technology Operations and Services (ITOPS), Infrastructure Operations (IO), COTS Interface Division. The incumbent serves as an IT Analyst whose full range of duties include providing IT project support and analysis, troubleshooting and repair services, and technical assistance to health, software and business application support as well as business focused services.

    Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary, but may involve intermediate periods of walking, bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, moving (up to 50 pounds) computer components and supplies, reaching, pulling, and working at a keyboard and monitor. Subject to call back outside tour of duty.

    This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-12. At the GS-11 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-12. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds. Promotion is not guaranteed and no promise of promotion is implied.

    Major Duties:

    • Tests the functionality of systems and networks;
    • Evaluates proposals for the acquisition of information technology products or services;
    • Performs application troubleshooting and maintenance in accordance with approved/established application support policies and change control policies in the organization;
    • Installs and configures applications for interfaces in coordination with Sub-Division Interface application updates/upgrades;
    • Plans, implements, and recommends improvement to policies and procedures that affect the management of supported IT applications.

    Occasional travel - Travel required up to 10% of the time.
