    Summary

    As a Records and Information Management Specialist, you will work primarily within the Records Management program area, supporting the NIH Records Officer. The NIH Records Management Program promotes compliance with Federal record-keeping requirements to preserve and protect agency information. The Records Management Program provides policy, guidance, training, and consultation services to the NIH community on all matters associated with the proper management of Federal records.

    Responsibilities

    • Participate in the development of strategic plans for the NIH-wide Records Management Program;
    • Implement NIH-wide change management and communication plans;
    • Train internal and external office staff on all aspects of the NIH Records Management Program;
    • Conduct management studies, surveys and other quantitative and qualitative analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of program operations in meeting established goals and objectives;
    • Participate in the formulation and implementation of NIH policy and guidance for record-keeping in accordance with the NIH strategic plan, HHS policies, congressional mandates for all electronic and non-electronic records, NARA regulations, standards and guidance, and appropriate professional records/information management standards;
    • Work to identify gaps and weaknesses as part of the NIH Risk Management Program;
    • Serve as a Records Management Advisor for NIH and HHS Officials;
    • Work with the NIH system owners to build records management functionality into the enterprise architecture and ensure all NIH information systems incorporate records management functionality appropriate to the records/information assets they support.
    • Consult with agency executive leadership to assure that records management technology is us is consistent with Department/Agency enterprise architecture.
