    This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program within VHA. Employees must apply for EDRP within four (4) months of appointment. Final award amount and program start date is determined after review of a complete EDRP application and supporting documentation by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services team. Maximum award is total amount of qualifying loans up to $200,000.

    The incumbent is assigned to Emergency Department Services. The Emergency Department (ED) description and patient population served is as defined in applicable Scope of Service. The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) II functions as a provider and oversees care provided to patients. The APRN consults/collaborates with the ED physician and other team members. The APRN provides leadership in improving patient care, maintaining standards of care, and directing and teaching personnel in a variety of settings. The APRN participates in ED Service utilizing the nursing process by providing assessment, planning, implementation, and outcome evaluation for patients receiving VA care.The APRN participates in the Performance Improvement Process for Emergency Department. The APRN maintains oversight and responsibility for professional practice issues, including appropriate licensure and certification.

    he APRN functions as an independent provider for a defined group of patients. Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient, and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction. The APRN provides care and counseling of persons or in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process that includes systematic data gathering, assessment, appropriate nursing judgment, and evaluation of human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as case finding, health teaching, health counseling; provision of care supportive to or restorative of life and well-being; and executing medical regimens including prescribing medications and treatments as an independent practice provider.
