As an HR Assistant, you will perform a variety of human resources functions integral to office operations.
This position is located in the Office of HR Management (OHRM) Washington Area Service Center (WASC) located in Washington, DC.

GS-07 - Assists senior HR specialists in various phases of the full range of recruitment and placement activities by reviewing and processing requests for personnel actions ensuring all requests include any and all necessary supporting documentation, and comply with all HR laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Prepares basic electronic vacancy announcements; selects the appropriate qualifications required from OPM Qualification Standards Handbook, obtains employment information (i.e., SF-75, release dates, etc.); sends out employment notifications/status letters; prepares and sends out employment offer letters; closes out merit promotion and DEU case files; makes job offers; and ensures that all non-recruitment/non-pay actions are in full compliance with all procedural requirements and submitted to PPRM in a timely manner.
Assists in processing non-recruitment/non-pay personnel actions using HR Links.
Ensures the correct nature of action (NOA), legal authority code, effective dates, salary, and related data elements are entered into the system, reviewed after input, and as necessary corrected for a wide range of personnel/position actions involving numerous and complex pay systems, pay schedules, and organizational elements. Cites the proper regulations for the action, that action is appropriate for the intended purpose.
Assists with New Employee Orientation (NEO). Responsible for preparing NEO folders/packets, reviews paper work from NEO to ensure forms are completed. Responsible for validating I-9 forms through E-Verify, responsible for uploading NEO documents into Monster/onboarding data base. provide assistance.
Serves as the point of contact for security investigation processing. Ensures applicants have filled out the required forms correctly, finger prints and/or SF-75 information is received timely and in accordance with HSPD-12 requirements. Initiates and assits with e-QIP system. Assists in arranging for physical examinations and drug testing, prepares paper work and initiates security checks. Tracks and maintains status of pending security clearances and initial access.

Processes the more complex actions, including corrections, cancellations, pay adjustments, award requests/forms.
Independently performs technical assignments, including resolving processing errors, administrative errors and discrepancies, and developing solutions for difficult personnel situations.
Evaluates and makes recommendations regarding personnel actions and issues, performing research as necessary on the most complex processing issues/inquiries.

The GS-07 salary range starts at $45,972.00 per year.
The GS-08 salary range starts at $50,912.00 per year.
If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
To qualify at the GS-07, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or higher in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is experience gained in an administrative support or Human Resources support position and involved experience in two or more of the following areas:
- coding and processing personnel actions,
-reviewing employment forms/documents for accuracy,
-providing orientation to new employees, and
-interpreting HR regulations and policies to provide guidance to customers regarding routine human resources program topics such as benefits.
To qualify at the GS-08, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that included: processing personnel data into an automated pay system; providing technical advice and guidance to employees and supervisors on various HR practices and processes; researching HR policies, procedures, and operations to perform a variety of HR support tasks; resolving personnel issues relating to pay, salary increases, on-board dates, and accuracy of data.
