    About the Position: This is a permanent position with Headquarters, US Army Corps of Engineers, Directorate of Civil Works located at the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) building, 441 G. Street, NW, Washington, DC.

    Responsibilities

    • Serves as a nationally recognized policy expert in economics with experience in areas of Civil Works water resources planning, civil engineering, economist, hydraulics and hydrology, and environmental planning.
    • Incumbent will be responsible in reviewing decision documents and feasibility reports and other policy documents for compliance in support of the Civil Works Program.
    • Provides assistance to Major Subordinate Commands (MSC) and District Commanders to develop and present information in planning documents dealing with navigation, flood risk management, aquatic ecosystem restoration, and other Civil Works functions.
    • Monitors the Civil Works policy compliance process to ensure procedures are in conformity with established policy.
    • Makes recommendations on approvals or disapproval on proposed departures from established policy and coordinates with other divisions, MSCs, Districts and other agencies.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel is required 10% of the time to defend, negotiate, influence and convince key stakeholders to accept or adopt Civil Works policies for development and implementation.
