The Large Business and International (LB&I) business unit provides service and enforcement activities to support tax compliance of businesses and related entities with assets of $10 million or more, as well as small U.S. businesses engaged in international, U.S. citizens abroad, and foreign persons and businesses with a U.S. tax requirement.
WHAT DOES AN AUTOMATIC EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION TAX LAW SPECIALIST (AEOI TLS) DO? IRS employs Tax Law Specialists (TLS) in many areas throughout the Service. In Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI), a TLS administers and coordinates all exchanges that fall under the automatic exchange of information program including but not limited to the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), Country-by-Country (CbC) exchange and the Traditional AEOI Program. In coordination with counsel and/or the Department of the Treasury, a TLS provides interpretation to internal and external stakeholders regarding treaties, tax information exchange agreements (TIEAs), Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs), Competent Authority Arrangements (CAAs) or other international tax sharing arrangements. A TLS will have to balance an inventory of countries containing various issues and provide high level guidance and assistance to internal and external stakeholders. The AEOI TLS position will provide you the opportunity to strengthen your knowledge, as you will be interacting with many different operating divisions of the IRS.

GS-14 LEVEL: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that is related to the work of this position and has provided you with the competencies required for successful job performance. Qualifying experience is experience that demonstrated accomplishment of legal, tax accounting, or other project assignments that required a wide range of knowledge of Federal tax laws, regulations, precedent decisions, or other areas related to the position to be filled. This knowledge is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant analyzed a number of alternative approaches in the process of advising management concerning major aspects of Federal tax laws, regulations, and precedent decisions. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
